Welcome back to school 2013/14
Welcome back to school for the new school year of 2013-2014! This is a new year and time to learn new things in social studies. I will be explaining everything to you over the new few days about what we will be doing in either 7th or 8th grade. Either way it's going to be a fun and exciting look at the history of the United States and politics. Plus it’s a World Cup year so be ready for lots of soccer references!

September 11
Today we remember the terror attacks on September 11th 2001. For this I have
some activities that I want you to do. The main activity is to analyze a
website from the link below. You must search the Sept. 11 website below and
analyze one of the website links that the page has for you. Once you have
carefully selected and analyzed a website if there is time remaining read the
beginning of section 4 of chapter 32 entitled The Day That Changed The Nation
and complete the guided reading worksheet, OR fill out the graphic organizer
about the Effects of September 11th by using your book or the web to search for
answers. All worksheets are available in the classroom. We will discuss the
results in class.

Jury Duty Day 4
Just like yesterday look at your class pages for your assignment.
Today in court:
There was more testimony today with one side wrapping things up and now the other side will continue tomorrow. Im being vague because I have to be legally, we can talk more after it is over. I will be in on Friday so we can get things settled back into the normal routine.

Jury Duty Day 3
Hello guys, look on the pages for your grade to find your assignment for today. Take your time and anything that needs to be written please do so in your notebook.
Today in court:
Testimony started yesterday and it is a very interesting process. Its a very big task that I and my fellow jurors have ahead of us.

Jury Duty Day 2
Today you will be finishing the Jury Duty worksheet from yesterday. Once you have that complete then you can work on either step 3 or 4 in your notebook. Look for a new assignment on Wednesday.
Now here are the details of what Im going through:
I went through all of the questioning that you saw in the video yesterday. After about 2 hours I was selected for a civil case. Legally I cant not tell you guys any more than that until the case is over. The video today will show a little more about what I will be witnessing while in court. This is a civic duty that you will all be asked to do at some point later in life.
Small interesting fact: the county court house in Newton was built in 1765 but gutted by fire in 1847. The main parts of the building are still what you see when you go into Newton today. I'm going to be sitting in a building thats almost 150 years old! Check out the site below for a history of the building.
Oh yea and all tests/quizzes have been postponed until I return, which is on Friday.
